My Story

I grew up in the kitchen with my mother and brother. We each had our role in preparing dinner, and no matter how busy life became, we sat down together to eat. Somewhere in those early meals, I learned that cooking was more than just making food. It was care. It was connection. It was time shared together.

Life eventually led me down other paths. I became a sign language interpreter, later worked closely with seniors living with Alzheimer’s, and spent many years volunteering in hospice care. Those experiences taught me something that has stayed with me ever since: presence matters. How we care for one another matters.

But food was always there, quietly waiting in the background.

Then a health crisis changed everything.

What was supposed to be a simple surgery turned into a long and complicated recovery that forced me to completely rethink the way I cared for my body. At one point, my diet became extremely limited, and I remember thinking: if this is all I can eat, I’m going to learn how to make it the best it can possibly be.

That moment brought me back to the kitchen in an entirely different way.

I began studying Ayurvedic nutrition, where I was introduced to a completely new way of understanding food. It wasn’t about counting calories or following rigid rules. It was about learning how ingredients work together to support digestion, energy, balance, and the overall experience of feeling well.

I started paying attention differently.

How certain foods made me feel.

How spices changed digestion.

How preparation mattered.

How food affected not only the body, but mood, focus, energy, and connection.

Food slowly became my teacher.

Through cooking, I rebuilt trust with my body and discovered something much bigger than recipes. Food gathers people. It creates connection. It shapes the way we care for ourselves and each other. And when approached with awareness, it can bring a sense of balance that reaches far beyond the plate.

That experience eventually became the foundation for Food Brilliance.

Today, I teach people how to cook with intention, understand the quiet intelligence of ingredients, and reconnect with food in a way that feels grounding, supportive, and deeply human.

I don’t just teach recipes.

I teach people how to understand food.

What I Believe

Digestion is where everything begins. When food is prepared in ways that support the body, energy becomes steadier, thinking becomes clearer, and life simply feels easier.

Food also has a remarkable way of bringing people together. Some of the most meaningful moments in life happen around a table, in a garden, or in a kitchen where something simple is being shared.

Cooking with intention is not about restriction or perfection. It is about paying attention. When we slow down and understand the ingredients in front of us, food becomes something that takes care of us in return.
